This is for the Adrian Peterson-type moves where a player is resigned in the middle of the season.
The main way to distinguish here will be whether or not the player's contract in our league is one that he has in real life or whether the player's contract in our league is one that was obtained through OUR free agency process.
In both cases, the player's contract for the CURRENT season will not change (in other words, once the preseason in the NFL starts, contract obligations for this year do not change [that is different than the people whose contracts we don't know as far as the year by year breakdown]).
IF THE PLAYER'S CONTRACT IS ONE THAT WAS OBTAINED THROUGH FREE AGENCY IN OUR LEAGUE
- You do not inherit any parts of the real life contract and whatever the contract you signed him at is his contract until it expires.
IF THE PLAYER'S CONTRACT IS NOT ONE THAT WAS OBTAINED THROUGH FREE AGENCY IN OUR LEAGUE BUT INSTEAD WAS SIMPLY A REAL LIFE CONTRACT INHERITED WHEN THE LEAGUE STARTED
- You do get to inherit the new contract and all yearly obligations starting next season (again, THIS year's yearly obligation will not change)
