QB and K Rules:
Due to the nature of a 32 team dynasty league, unique rules are imperative for the QB and K positions since real life squads typically only have one player who plays at each of these positions. While it is not mandatory to have a starting QB and starting K on your roster (there are alternatives), and while it is not against the rules to have more than 1 starter at either of those positions, it will be highly encouraged and regulated through the following rules:
- You are not allowed to have more than 1 active *real life starting* QB or more than 1 active *real life starting* K on your roster for more than 4 weeks of our season (this includes playoffs).
- If your team does not have a starting QB in a given week, you are able to start a 2nd Flex (RB/WR/TE) player in place of an empty QB spot; you are not allowed to play a 2nd Flex player by choice. If you have a starting QB in a given week and that player is not listed as Questionable or worse on the NFL injury report, you do not have this option. In all instances, you must declare prior to the start of the week (including weeks where there is a Thursday game) in the "QB/K area" of Proboards that you are using this option
- If your team does not have a starting K in a given week, you are able to start a UNIQUE "special teams (ST) player" in the 2nd Flex (RB/WR/TE) spot in place of an empty K spot; this player will ONLY be able to accumulate return yards and return TDs. No other stats can be accumulated from a ST position. You are not allowed to play a ST player by choice. If you have a starting K on your roster in a given week and that player is not listed as Questionable or worse on the NFL injury report, you do not have this option
- You can only use one of these 2 options in a given week; in other words, you cannot play both a 2nd Flex player in place of a QB AND a ST player in place of a K in the same week.
- You can only use a 2nd Flex player in place of a QB 8 times in a season (including playoffs)
- Each week where you have two QBs or two Ks who have started for their real life team will be counted towards this; it does not apply to backups who have entered the game due to injury.
- You are not allowed to have QBs or Ks on more than 2 real life NFL franchises; this applies to the offseason where an attempted signing of a 3rd team's QB (even a backup) will be disallowed.
- If a Free Agent is determined in the offseason by the League Office to be a projected starting QB or starting K for the following season and you already have a projected starting QB, your team will be ineligible to bid on that player in the Free Agency period; this helps ensure that as few teams as possible get to the start of the regular season without a starter at either position. There is some gray area on "projected" starters in certain cases, and the league will have some leniency at those times.
- If any of these rules is violated in a given week, your team will have your HIGHEST offensive scoring players' points deducted from your final score as penalty.
- This encourages teams who have 2 starters at either position for whatever reason to negotiate with those squads that do not have a QB or K.
- Obviously, a QB will score more than a teams' 7th offensive skill player (Flex spot) in our league, and a K will score more than a ST player (can only accumulate PR and KR points in this spot); so while this is a way to assist a team should it get stuck without a QB or K, it is still in a team's best interest to attempt to acquire the extra starters on the other teams. To help assist in this negotiation process, the league will have a special "QBs and Ks" area dedicated to tracking which teams have extra starting QBs or Ks and which teams have no starting QBs or Ks.
- All league GMs should be extra vigilant in trading situations dealing with QBs and Ks to make sure that the teams with extra starters do not have an unfair advantage in the bargaining process; voting in these types of trades is extremely important
