TJ Houshmandzadeh (OAK) ('11: $7.25M '12:UFA)

Financial Status of Franchise
After the Jaguars unrestricted free agents enter market and cutting some players who just weren't up to accomplishing the goals we asked of them the franchise looks to open up about $40M of cap space. With franchise tags going to Tolbert and McClain, and a hopeful lifer tag going to Mathis the franchise looks to be sitting on $35M at least.
2012 Draft
The Jags have two 3rd round picks in this years draft, and the boys in the scouting department are really looking into how to get the most bang for our buck. Ideally would be looking for a young DL or LB who shows promise and can be developed under our great defensive coach.
Free Agent Market
The plans for the off season are to address the lack of depth in the linebacker position, and find a big time play maker on the offensive side of the ball in the free agent market. Expect to see some big time money thrown around to get our guy. Preferably a wide out would be the target, but the team just wants a player who comes out to score touchdowns with a passion for this game, and for this team.
Off Season Plans
We look to develop our young squad here in Jacksonville. We expect a lot out of our veterans (Farrior, Mathis, Barber) but we also expect improvement in our youngsters. The squad was putting together some nice games at the end of the season, and we plan to continue that success as we venture into next year.
Off Season Quotes
Head Coach Jon Gruden "Well its been an experience this year working with a young quarterback like Timmy, but I'll tell you what, that kids got a heart of a champion and the utmost desire to win...but damn am I happy he is on my team and not the opponents". (11/30/2011) (Press conference)
Starting Tailback Mike Tolbert "I felt like our team just struggled to stay consistent this year, its all about consistency. We have the squad its just about putting it all together. I will be working my (expletive) this off season to become the feature back that this team needs, don't count this Jaguar squad out next year". (11/30/2011) (Locker room interview)
Starting Quarterback Tim Tebow "I have really been blessed to come into this organization mid season and get a chance to prove myself. This team has great chemistry and one thing we all have in common is we are young. Gruden is a great coach, and Mr. Weber is looking for supporting players for this team. Just going to do my job, and I can't wait to see how this off season turns out. People have been criticizing me my whole life, but I am looking forward to getting out their next year and proving them wrong. I just thank God every day for the talents he has given me." (12/1/11) (Personal Interview)
GM Loren Weber "Been talking with free agents Tolbert and McClain all week for contract renewals and things have been looking good. These guys are both young and excelling at their positions and we would like to hook them up for a long time, but we will see how it all works out" (12/3/2011) (Personal Interview)
Starting LB Darryl Smith "I really do feel like a veteran player out here. This young defense looks to me to lead them. I'm in the prime of my career and I don't see that ending any time soon. This defense is working their [expletive] to be the best in the league next year!" (12-8-2011) (Personal Interview)
