The Titans have $43,204,667 in Cap Room before We want to bring back as many players, but the Titans do not want to burn all of their cap room this year.
The Titans are projected to have $68,315,000 to spend on free agents in 2012-2013 once all our players with current contracts become free agents.
Through 10 games the Titans are 5-5. At least 9 teams are guaranteed to be picking ahead of us come draft day.
At this point with one game left the Titans hold the following draft picks for the 2012 NFL Draft
1st Round 17th overall pick
2nd Round 48th overall overall pick
3rd Round 75th overall pick from Philadelphia Eagles
3rd Round 76th overall pick
These picks will be updated and finalized after Sunday's games.
14 of the Titans 35 players are set to become free agents in 2012-2013. I believe I also have a franchise tag, but it costs me 15 million in cap room if I want to use it.
Titans Players In No Fun League Set To Become Free Agents
Josh Johnson QB Currently a backup on Tampa Bay in real life
LeGarrette Blount RB Currently a starter on Tampa Bay in real life RFA Which means I have to place a tender on him if I want to restrict him.
DeSean Jackson WR Currently a starter on Eagles in real life
Justin Gage WR Currently a free agent in real life
Lavelle Hawkins WR Currently a slot receiver on the Titans in real life
Craig Stevens Tight End on the Titans who got injured
Tom Santi Tight End Free Agent in real life
Jason Jones Defensive Lineman Plays on Titans in real life Tied with rookie Karl Klug for 3 sacks on roster.
Jacob Ford On Titans practice squad in real life
Barrett Rudd Linebacker Rudd is the Titans starting middle linebacker in real life
Cortland Finnegan Defensive Back #1 corner on Titans roster in real life.
Chris Hope Defensive Back Strong Safety who missed 6 games with an injury
Michael Griffin Defensive Back Free Safety who starts for Titans
Vincent Fuller on my roster, but got cut in Titans training camp.
2/2 QB's
2/3 RB's
3/6 WR's
0/2 TE's
5/4 DL's I have more defensive lineman than the minimum amount so I could trade lineman for tight end depth.
5/4 LB's I'm also pretty strong at linebacker. I have 6 linebackers and 5 returning. My best linebacker Rudd is a free agent though.
2/6 DB's 4 players with expiring deals set to become free agents.
The Titans need to put a Level 4 RFA Tender on LeGarrette Blount which will cost 2 million in cap room. A level 4 tender means no teams can make offers to Blount unless they agree to give up a 1st and 3rd round draft pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. 2012 top running back prospect Trent Richardson may return to school for his senior year which means Blount's value only expands for 2012.
DeSean Jackson has an expiring contract. I want to resign him long term. The 2012 NFL Draft is stacked at wide receiver. Jackson is not worth 20 million off my salary cap at this point because of his inconsistency in 2011. He's only worth 8 and 16 million at this point so its uncertain if Jackson is returning
The Titans desperately need a top flight tight end. JerMichael Finley has an expiring contract in 2012. Green Bay probably will sign him long term in real life. If Finley becomes a free agent in the No Fun League I have to outbid a GM for Finley's rights at any cost. Craig Stevens missed the rest of the year after the Titans got off to a 3-1 start and Tom Santi is a free agent. I try to make the playoffs without using the flex rule to test my true skills as a GM. The only way I give up my rights for Finley in free agency is if he takes up more than half of my salary cap room. The 2012 draft will be weak at tight end so I have to make a big bid for Finley. Usually its not smart to spend big on tight ends, but I have no one at tight end and Finley is a player who can help me generate enough points to make the playoffs.
I am open to signing a defensive lineman if Mario Williams becomes a free agent. Otherwise I will probably address this area in the draft with one of my 4 draft picks.
You know you need a sack artist to obtain points in this league. Karl Klug and Jason Jones who ikson is rets set to become a free agent lead this team with 3 sacks. The Titans front four starters have generated a combined 6.5 sacks with rookie Karl Klug coming off the bench to generate 3 sacks making that total 9.5 if you Klug's production. We need a sack artist who can generate 10 sacks and were stacked with defensive line depth.
The Titans have Will Witherspoon, Akeem Ayers, and Colin McCarthy returning. I'd like Barrett Rudd back, but if I run low on cap room trying to resign Blount and Griffin along with signing Finley at tight end then I need to use my cap room wisely.
I need to resign Michael Griffin if given the choice between bringing back only one of the following defensive backs Finnegan, Hope, or Griffin. I have 2 other effective corners with Verner and McCourty. Verner's deal runs through 2014 and Jason McCourty was the only defensive player who has reached 100 total fantasy points in the No Fun League for the Titans this year.
I may have to spend a draft pick on a strong safety if I release Chris Hope.
I may have to sign backup players for depth. There will be rookie sleepers in the late rounds that don't get drafted in the No Fun League since the No Fun League is 3 rounds rather than 7 rounds. I may use my remaining roster spots to address needs on rookies because it will save me a ton of money in cap room. If my rookie players become really good it only makes me spend more money to resign them long term. If they flop I gave up next to nothing to get them and it won't cost me much cap room long term.
