Why do we Want to start the draft in here so early? shouldnt we wait a week or two so we can research on players (where they went/projected playing time/depth charts) things like that? i mean we are in no hurry have all off season why not drag this stuff out a little so we stay more active?
secondly, in this draft once it starts, the other leagues like this use no time limit on picks and one uses 24 hrs? what will it be in here? once again no rush IMO might as well give ppl ample time to make their pick and do research and such

When is our draft as of now? Personally, I like the idea of having our draft fairly concurrent with the real life draft (starting the day after or so). GMs should be researching and scouting prospects now in preperation for the draft. And I think something like 24-48 hrs would be a good time limit for draft picks (eventhough I think it should take a GM longer than 24hrs to pick).
Good questions Nate, hopefully we an get some GM involvement.

the reason i say to wait is that where a player goes changes everything so any research you do now can become worthless

Not really you can research draft boards and mock drafts now. If our draft starts following the real life draft. You will still see where guys are drafted and if you decide to draft someone who hasn't been drafted real life yet (you reach for a player who is drafted in the real life second, with your first round pick) then that's a risk you take. But that's what makes it realistic, there is always risk in the draft. Any research you do now will not become worthless, if anything research you do now will help you develop a good draft strategy.

If anyone has free picks I sure wouldn't complain when the draft is

Yes Nate I understood what you were saying. What I'm saying is that our draft will start AFTER the real life draft. So before anyone in our league is able to draft TR, we will already know who will have drafted him in real life.
I just think it would be cool to have our draft around similar time of real life draft to keep the authenticity of the league up. All GM's should realize the draft os coming so to come an update and prepare for draft. Just my opinion tho.

I agree @rams GM, I think there should be as much risk in our picks as they have in real life. If we draft someone and they end up not starting on the team in real life for 4 years or so that's kinda considered a bust in this league. I like the up in the air of it all. You know that the eagles need a safety so if they draft a safety there is a good chance they will play. That's all research done before the draft. Browns need a RB TR becomes a starter, TB has a RB TR isn't a starter, loses value in our league. Pretty straight forward in my book.

I also think things shouldnt be rushed. This isnt REAL life, this is a fantasy league. If we get everything done by May 1st what do we do for the next 4 months? Trade for the hell of it? I think waiting a week or two AFTER the real draft has been completed would be great. Then a 24-48hr clock per pick would be ok. I mean in MLB we dont do the league draft for 5-6months after the fact. Lets people see how things are going for players.

Of course it's not real life, I assure you I have the perception of the two events separated in my mind. But that is why I like the idea of having it so close to draft, cause you dont exactly know what people will do with these players

I think that would def b best This is diff then real life because we don't know how they feel about certain guys or third depth we have to wait and read about it

I highly disagree with Nate. Not knowing how a team feels about a player or their depth are both aspects that can be researched and scouted. Not at all good reasons to move the draft. People need to do their HW and do some off season scouting f they want to succeed in the draft.
I do agree with Victor that the long gap before the season opens is one of the main reasons we move it back.
Still, my vote would be to keep it close to the original draft. If not concurrent, then maybe shortly after (like May 1 at the latest). Just think it could take advantage of the attention the draft brings. All GM's know the draft is coming so they should be active in their football league. Just my thoughts.

Well, the majority of us are also in MLB dynasty leagues as well, so NFL is kinda in back burner. Doesnt mean someone should completely neglect it but the LONG dead period is definitely not good for league. I think most people are doing their homework, at least I would think they would, but moving it back and eliminating the long gaps between inactivity is best.
I would prefer an early June start. Around when Offseason OTAs are starting up for Rookies. I think a 3 rd draft for this size should eat up a month or so. Then it would be early July and NFL training camp would be right around the corner and undrafted rookie free agents can be bid on for a few weeks. Then the start of season would be right there and no real long dead gaps of action.
Just a thought.

Saturday June 9 will be the start of the draft. That will give me some time to catch a breath I hope. Absolutely zero time to even breathe lately let alone come onto the fantasy leagues
